Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay

Founded in 1978, Shafer Vineyards is situated in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, east of the Silverado Trail and just north of the town of Napa. Although their main focus has always been luxuriant, richly textured Cabernet Sauvignons from their Stags Leap vineyards, they own and farm vineyards also in Napa’s southernmost Carneros District.
Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay, From Shafer’s superbly sited, eponymous vineyard in the Napa Valley side of Carneros. It is barrel fermented, with wild yeast, and matured for 14 months in a combination of 75% new french oak barrels (Allier, Vosges) and 25% stainless steel barrels. Malolactic fermentation is prevented and as a result, the richly textured, intensely flavoured, concentrated fruit is beautifully supported by pure, vibrant acidity.

Ca’ del Bosco Vintage Collection Franciacorta Satén Brut

Introduced in 1978 with the name Crémant, it is a special interpretation of a Franciacorta made only with Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco. In 1990 its name was changed to Franciacorta Vintage Satèn. Since the 2008 vintage, Ca’ del Bosco has decided to reinterpret Dosage Zéro, Satèn and Brut, and to give them a distinctive appellation as well: “Vintage Collection”. An elegant narrative of our extraordinary territory and of man’s ability to bring out the vines’ inherent potential.

Ridge Geyserville

Geyserville is a traditional field blend of zinfandel and its complementary varieties: carignane, petite sirah, and mataro (mourvedre). Each vintage is unique, distinct, extraordinary… yet they do have elements in common, including the blackest of blackberry fruit, ripe plum, rich cherry, and cedar. A remarkably consistent and elegant wine with exceptional layering, Geyserville’s unique flavour characteristics are often attributed to the relatively higher percentage of carignane, added to the petite sirah found in most of our other zinfandels. Among the most age-worthy of Ridge wines, Geyserville often drinks beautifully well beyond 10 years of age.

Ridge Lytton Springs Magnum

Lytton Springs is home to 100-plus-year-old zinfandel vines interplanted with petite sirah, carignane, a small amount of mataro (mourvèdre), and grenache. For decades, the field blend from this site has produced the quintessential example of Dry Creek Valley zinfandel. Lytton Springs is a prime example of Ridge’s commitment to championing Heritage varietals, varietals planted more than a century ago and surviving in numerous locations. They honour the individual character of these vines by fermenting each variety and each lot separately using natural yeast fermentation, letting the wines undergo natural malolactic, and employing minimal egg white fining.
